Paradoxical Darkening

The case with paradoxical darkening☝🏼☝🏼☝🏼

Paradoxical Darkening of colourants as a result of exposure to laser radiation
Paradoxical Darkening

Top: before laser treatment (red hue) Bottom: straight after (dark grey)

In simple words-it’s changed of the colour due to chemical changes of the elements.

Straight After the treatment Before laser treatment

*The client needs to understand that if the initial colour of the brows (before any laser treatments) was red, there is a strong possibility of them turning grey. (Patch test will confirm or dismiss this possibility)

*This change can be permanent (until next laser treatment) or temporary (change during healing stage), as the colour may fluctuate several times during the course of treatments. It means the colour can turn grey right after the treatment, flip back to reddish during the healing stage, and turn grey again after the next laser treatment.

*It does NOT mean that the colour will not fade over time! But instead of a linear progression from dark to lighter colour, you may experience several colour changes during the treatment course.

This is something to keep in mind and not be alarmed about.

The pictures in this case illustrate this situation. Take a closer look at the progression.
