PERMANENT BROWS

BROWS

SPMU: About Us
  • What is permanent makeup?
Eyebrows permanent makeup treatment replaces the effect achieved when we’d usually use eyebrow pencils/shadows or mimic the natural hairs. We implant pigment within the superficial layers of the skin which assures perfectly shaped and balanced brows all day long, everyday! It is suitable for you if: - you have hair loss in the brow region - you are not happy with the shape or natural colour of your brows - you want your brows to stay put regardless of the weather or your activities. - you are tired of starting every day with frustrating process of drawing your brows
  • What is powder brows technique?
Powder brows (also known as Ombre' brows or shaded brows) is a semi-permanent makeup procedure for eyebrow enhancement in which the artist inserts PMU pigments into the top layers of the skin. Powder brows create the desired fullness of your eyebrows and brings out your natural beauty.
  • What is the hair stroke technique?
We mimic the natural growth of hairs to make your brows appear fuller and fill in any gaps (due to various reasons such as overplucking, alopecia and hair loss after chemotherapy etc.)
  • Is it painful to get your brows done?
Most clients describe the treatment as if the area worked on is being scratched, giving it maximum of 3 marks on a scale of 1 to 10. It's important to remember that pain is different for everyone and multiple factors can affect the level of comfort during the procedure. Technician’s skill level: the more skilled and qualified a technician is, the less likely they are to inflict unnecessary trauma to the skin. Please choose your technician wisely. Choice of equipment: it is extremely important that high quality equipment and needle cartridges are used. Using the right tools can significantly increase the comfort level of the procedure. All of us have different pain thresholds which can change from time to time depending on various things such as stress level or even the time of the month for us ladies! Hunger, fear, tiredness and other stressor may result in greater levels of sensitivity. Please make sure that you have had something to eat before any procedure. Always make sure to ask any questions you may have in advance. Getting your questions answered can reduce any anxiety you may be experiencing and lower your stress levels. Ladies, we recommend booking your appointment before or after your period. Let's avoid that time as we can be particularly sensitive during those days. Although modern techniques allow us to perform the treatment without use of any numbing agents, you may wish to consider using a topical anaesthetic if your pain threshold is very low.
  • Is it safe?
    - Appropriate PPE is always used during treatment. - Only disposable needles are used to perform the procedure. - The equipment that cannot be treated in a high temperature sterilising chamber is covered with disposable plastic sheets to ensure that there is no cross contamination. - All working areas are cleaned and treated with professional antibacterial & antiviral products at the begin and end of the working day, and before and after each client.
  • How long does it last?
On average, results last between 12 - 18 months. The longevity depends on many factors: - equipment and product used - chosen technique - aftercare - individual circumstances such as skin type, age, lifestyle and health conditions.
  • How long does the procedure take?
Pigment implantation itself takes an average of 1hr during the initial treatment and 30 minutes for touch-ups. However, please allow at least 2.5 hours for your initial appointment to give yourself plenty of time to fill in pre-treatment paperwork and most importantly, agree the shape and style sketched by the technician with a brow pencil. Remember, we can wipe off the pencil as many times as required for you to be absolutely happy with the shape.
  • How long does it take to heal?
The full healing cycle can take between 5 to 28 days. Minimal discomfort should disappear between 7-12 days. Healing stages: - Straight after the treatment, colour appears darker and bolder & shape is wider than desirable; - Between day 2-5, the depth of colour can increase even more. At this time, brows start to itch and flake. Important! Do not try to pick or peel any flaking skin and let it fall off naturally. Failure to do so may lead to uneven colour and even scarring. Please take care of the skin! - Around days 5-7, flaky skin has peeled naturally & brows may look lighter than you desired. - Day 28 – skin is restored, you can see true colour and decide whether you want to have it darker or opt for a warmer/cooler shade during touch-up. NB: I always start with a lighter shade than desired to establish your skins behaviour. It is impossible to predict the exact result and skins reaction to the pigment. However, it is easy to add colour depth during touch up! It’s definitely not as easy to make it lighter. So, let’s be wise and take it easy!
  • When do I need to come for touch up?
Permanent makeup is a 2-step treatment. Time for booking a touch-up can differ from person to person depending on the skin type and age. For younger clients, 4 weeks is advisable; clients who are 55+ are advised to book their touch up between 6-8 weeks post first treatment. This is due the speed of skin renewal and the heeling processes. The older we get, the longer it takes for our skin to fully recover. Important! Touch-up is included in the price of your first appointment. Please do not skip it! This session sometimes is necessary to make any small adjustments to the shape or colour (if needed) and to fill in any areas where pigment may have not implanted after the first procedure.
  • Will my eyebrows still grow after the brows tattoo?
Correctly performed permanent make up does not affect hair growth in any way.
  • Do I need to shave my eyebrows before treatment?
There is no need to shave your eyebrows as your natural hair is the best template. We only try to enhance the beauty you already hold!
  • Do I have a choice of brow colour?
We choose the colour that best complements your skin tone and your natural brow colour.
  • Does the pigment colour change overtime?
Good quality pigments will fade over time without changing to an unnatural tone. We use only the best product the market can offer to avoid any unpleasant surprises such us blue, green or bright orange brows.
  • What do I need to do prior to treatment?
Please do not take any blood thinning medication, supplements or substances such as aspirin, ibuprofen, vitamin E, caffeine or alcohol any less than 24 hours before treatment. Any brow tinting you may have must be done no less than 2 weeks before pmu treatment to ensure there is no discoloration to the skin in the brow area. Please leave at least 1 week before treatment if you have waxed, plucked or threaded your brows. Please wait at least 2 weeks before treatment if you’ve had any invasive facial treatments such as microneedling, mesotherapy, dermabrasion, laser lifting, botox, etc.
  • Aftercare recommendations:
Sleep on fresh bedding, and use fresh towels. Avoid touching the area! The key is keeping the area clean & dry: If any lymph (clear liquid on the treated area) is produced, use sterile swabs with saline solution to gently dab the skin clean (do not wipe, scrub or press hard on the skin!) Avoid scratching, rubbing and picking the crust that may develop during healing. If the area becomes itchy, use ointment from your aftercare pack very sparingly to sooth the area. If you can tolerate the slight discomfort and itchiness then best to let it heal without use of any ointments. Avoid sleeping with your face on the pillow until the skin has stopped flaking. Avoid prolonged water activities such as swimming, long bathing, singing in the shower and heavy sweating in the gym, sauna or elsewhere. No facials, Botox, chemical/mechanical peels for at least four weeks! Always use sun screen to protect from sun induced fading.
